When you use a coupon and have to return an item, YOU WILL NOT GET THAT COUPON BACK.
Here's my example from today. I must add that I am not happy about this situation and am kicking rocks at the moment.
This was the longs ad today. CVS lotion for $2.19. I had a $2 off any lotion purchase which would make this bottle $0.19 plus tax.
This is the shelf labeling. So I picked up the bottle and purchased the lotion using the coupon. I failed to watch the screen at check out and missed that the lotion I picked up rang up at $3.49, not $2.19. Still a great price, but I had my mission set on paying only $0.19.
Well, it wasn't. They refunded me in full for the $3.49 bottle and then rang me up again for the full $2.19 for the smaller bottle!! I was so annoyed that I just left the store. Needless to say, I will be returning to Longs later this week to return the lotion entirely and will lose the $2 coupon as if it never existed.
Lesson learned, once a coupon is used, its gone. IMO, this was the stores fault for misplacement of the sale tag and I'm glad I got a picture of it. When the associate figured out it was on the wrong one, she moved it.
I should've just kept that big bottle I got for $1.49 with coupon instead of being so adamant about paying $0.19 for the small one. Cause that bottle was 24.5 OZ. *kicks rocks*
