Longs CVS trip 7/6/14

This sale came at the perfect time right along with the P&G coupons that we got today. It's been a few months since I've bought personal care items and we're just about out of stock in our pantry. That tells me that my system and stock rotation in my house is par with sales cycles. Here's what I was able to score today.

Old spice body wash. $2.99 used $2/2 mq from Sunday paper = $1.99 each

Head and Shoulders shampoo/conditioner $4.59 used $5/2 mq from Sunday paper stacked with Longs store $3 off $15 shampoo/conditioner purchase coupon = $1.71 each

Always pantiliners $3.49 used $1/1 mq from sunday paper stacked with Longs store $2 off $8 in tampon/pad/liner store copuon = $1.82 each (60 count)

Huggies wipes travel containers with 16 wipes $2.19. used $1.50 off $5 Longs store coupon = $1.69 each

My total savings for everything was a little less than shown above because I also had $6 in rewards cash that I got from the coupon center (big red box) when I scanned my red card before I started shopping.

On top of all of that, there is a promotion that started today at Longs. Spend $60 in proctor and gamble products and get a $25 longs gift card back in the mail. Or get $10 when you spend $30.  How I find this out was by using grocery smarts match up tool. When I went to Longs the store manager completely forgot about this promo so by me asking, it reminded her and she went and set up all the signage at each register.

In essence, I've saved even MORE than I tallied above because I didn't account for the gift card I'll be getting back shortly.

My total before coupons with tax $81.34

My total out of pocket after coupons $37.56.

I've included pictures of my receipt which shows my total savings on this trip which was $84.10. I saved 71% today on my Longs trip. They include the savings of the sale price against the regular price too on their receipts.

For those that have asked me what my total savings is annually by using coupons, here is my proof, thus far.
I've calculated my annual savings to be approximately $3000 a year. At Longs alone, I have saved $553.05. That savings not only pays for my 5 Sunday papers I get every weekend, it helps to ease the burden of rising gas prices too.

You can't fix the gas prices, electric rates, water and sewer rates. All you can do is conserve and minimize usage to help ease the weight on your budget. Using coupons to help subsidize yourselves on groceries is the one thing you can control. And this is why I keep doing it and why I want to continue to reach out to those who want to learn. Everyone could benefit from saving a little money. When you're ready to learn, I'm here :)

I have two classes coming up. July 13 at 11 am near the Aloha Stadium and another on July 17 in Kapolei near the public library.  Contact me to save your seat. My classes are filling up fast for the month.
