This is a longs value book week. After I perused the ads and matched up my coupons, I started SWEATING! I knew I had to get out there ASAP before the churches get out and the shelf clearing couponers got up. I hit the stores by 7:30 am. I left my binder HOME. Can you believe it? I NEVER do that. This time, I did not want to waste time hunting for extreme deals on unnecessary crap. If I don't need it, I'm not going to hunt for it. Besides, Longs doesn't give overages. So it's pointless.
When I rang up at Longs, it took a lot out of me to not scream out loud, "WOOOOOOOOOOOOO HOOOOOOOOO!!!" I already precalculated what I'd be paying and knew if it rang up correctly, the total should be a little bit lower due to my coupon stacking. I wasn't expecting THAT price. LOL!! I was stoked.
I got to the store and one shopping cart corral was already empty. BAD SIGN. ugh. Thankfully, the carts were strewn in the parking lot. The store was fairly quiet. I had my note pad with my list, my coupons, and the value book. Stay on task Maria.
As I was shopping, I saw another gal buying up the Dawn dishsoap. I knew she was a couponer. I saw other older women holding envelopes with their coupons inside. NICE! I bumped into the couponer gal again and I said, "you beating the crowds?" LOL. We started chatting. It was nice to see a fellow couponer who was friendly, not stressed, and NOT clearing shelves.
As I was in line to pay, I flagged her and told her one of my finds. The chinet plates on sale for $1.99 (36 count) had $0.55/1 peelies on them. They were all tucked on the very BOTTOM shelf. The whole shelf had them. I told one lady at the shelf who was eyeing the plates. She was about to rape the shelf. But she put some back. I told the coupon gal and told her hurry. It's right there (as i point her to the aisle) and tell her go straight to the bottom and grab em. Woop woop! For $1.44 per pack, that's a steal for Chinet! Someone tell me how much the costco sized chinet plates cost so I can compare it.
As I rang up, I told other shoppers that I might be a while. They were all friendly and said ok thanks. Sometimes I'll get some extremely grouchy person who scoffs and stomps away. Whatever. As the cashier gave me my total, the young fellow who was going to line up behind me kept looking. As he drove away outside he saw me. He stopped and asked me how much did I save. I told him about $40, only thinking about my savings I had calculated at home. That total did not include the in store savings against their retail price. When I got to the van, I literally screamed out loud in my closed vehicle. You'll see why below. Dammit. I wish I whipped out my receipt when he asked me. He'd be FLOORED! lol!

I broke out the 7 oral care products by the $4 savings per unit above. I stacked ALL of this with the CVS mailer I received yesterday which saved me an additional $10. Are you getting these? If not, you need to head to the longs cvs website and sign up for everything!
Also, upon entry of the store ALWAYS scan your extra care card at the coupon center and get those store coupons!!
My total before coupons (includes tax): $59.61
I paid out of pocket (OOP) including tax = $33.72
My TOTAL SAVINGS = $76.08!! That's based on retail prices versus what I really paid.
I got each one for $0.66 each plus tax. My total out of pocket for them $8.29. Nice deal!
Without coupons, I would've paid $12.19. No thanks! :)
